Women’s tennis to host Temple on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team is back home to play the Owls of Temple at the Hecht Tennis Center on Sunday. The Quakers and the Owls begin at 1 p.m

The Quakers enjoyed a 2-1 trip in Arizona, where they defeated UTEP 5-2 and then lost 5-2 to Arizona and 6-1 to Arizona State. Penn’s only win against the Sun Devils came at No. 1 in the singles Sabine Rütlauka improved to 9:0 with a set win over #113 Chelsea Fontenel. During the season, the Quakers are 11-0 overall in singles, Rutlauka 9-0 and Gabriella Smith is 2-0. On the double, Penn had the most success with his No. 2 pair as they went with a combined 8-3 Maya Urata And Iris Gallo with a 5-2 record at the top.

Preview Temple
The Owls clinched a 7-0 win over Binghamton on Saturday. Temple opened with a sweep of doubles matches. On the singles side, the Owls won the singles 6-2 in straight sets, while No. 1 Thamara Frasser Kawaratani clinched the three-set win with a 10-3 tiebreak win. Temple opened the season 1-1 before improving his record to 9-1 with eight straight wins.
