GRAND FORKS, ND — The Bemidji State women’s tennis team played their Sioux Falls-based Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents in Grand Forks, ND on Saturday

Sioux Falls defeated the Beavers 5-2 before Division II No. 14 Augustana finished the afternoon 7-0.

Blanca Lopez-Oro clinched a win in No. 1 singles against USF, beating Talia Janos 7-5, 0-6, 10-7. Lily Jones also won at No. 6 in singles, defeating Annika Randt in three sets (7th-6th). -6, 6-7, 10-5).

BSU (2-11, 1-6 NSIC) almost got the two more points needed for a team win. USF’s Danielle Thorfinnson beat Nicoleta Anestiadi in three sets for 2nd place in singles. The Cougars (9-4, 4-3 NSIC) also won two of the three doubles games. Emilia Sand and Isabela Nelson beat Jaelyn Haler and Alissa Thorfinnson 6-4 for Bemidji State’s only double win.

Augustana (12-2, 6-0 NSIC) flexed his muscles in the Beavers’ second game of the day. The Vikings won all 10 matchups and gave up only nine sets.

BSU is back in Grand Forks at 3:30pm on Saturday April 1 against U-Mary.
