Women’s tennis fails with 4-3 loss to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss women’s tennis came up short with a 4-3 loss to No. 56 Arkansas on Friday. Ludmila Kariesova extends her singles winning streak to seven.

Ole Miss (7-6, 1-4 SEC) fell behind Arkansas (7-7, 1-4 SEC) early, losing the colon in the #1 and #3 singles. Lilian Gabrielsen And Kelsey Mize didn’t finish their game, but were in second place with a 6:5 lead.

In singles play, the Razorbacks won the first two singles games in straight sets in 5th place and 3rd place. Kareisova didn’t stop fighting for the second position. Kareisova started back 3-0 in the first set but came back and won the set 6-4. In the second set, she then did quick work with a 6-1 win. The sophomore defeated No. 68 Carolina Gomez Alonso to win her sixth ranked win overall and her third ranked singles win in five games.

Unfortunately, Arkansas won the next singles game in fourth place. Emma chain bounced back from a 6-0 loss in the opener by winning the second set 6-0. Chain fought to the tiebreak in the third set but would ultimately drop the match.

Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher u Reka Zadori ended their matches with super tiebreaker wins in the third set. Leclercq-Ficher claimed her first SEC singles win with a 10-8 score in the third set in No. 1 singles. Zadori won her tiebreak 10-4 at No. 6 in singles.

The Rebels conclude their road stretch with a game against Missouri on Sunday, March 19 beginning at 11:00 am CT.
