NORFOLK, Va. – The 23rdapprox-Ranked Old Dominion Monarchs rallied to take the colon, winning their first three games in singles to earn a 4-0 win over the defending Sun Belt Conference champions on Saturday morning.

“We did a great job mastering a tough, windy outdoor game,” said ODU head coach Dominic Manila. “We gutted the doubles and then got to work in the singles. I am very proud of how we lined up for a great win today.”

In doubles, ODU (9-4, 4-0) won the first game as Tatsiana Zasnousskaya And Sofia Johnson scored a 6-3 win in row one. South Alabama (12-2, 2-1) secured the colon with a 6-4 win in series two. in line three, Alexandra Viktorovich And Mya Byrd recovered from a 5-1 deficit to win 7-5 and gave ODU a 1-0 lead.

In singles, ODU won three games in quick succession to win doubles. Viktorovitch won the first point 6-4, 6-0 in row five Alesya Yakubovich They followed suit with a 6-2, 6-0 win in row four for a 3-0 lead from ODU. Sasnouskaya finished the game with a 6-3, 6-2 win in row one for the 4-0 ODU win.

The Monarchs are back on court at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon and meet Southern Miss at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
