Pokemon Scarlet & Violet includes many strong Ground-type Pokemon, like Generation 4 Hippo Pokemon Hippopotas and Hippowdon. Here’s everything trainers need to know to find these monsters in Paldea.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet bring back Pokemon of all kinds from past generations, including many powerful and hardy Ground-types.

While there are many dual-type Pokemon that include Ground, such as Numel, Garchomp, and Sandygast, trainers can also find some pure Ground-types.

One of these pure soil types is Hippopotas and its evolution Hippowdon, returning from the Sinnoh region in Generation 4. Here’s how trainers can find these powerful Hippo-type Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet.

Where to find hippos in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

According to Hippopotas’ Pokedex entry, it can only be found in an area in the Paldea region: the Asado Desert. Trainers often find the Hippo-type Pokémon in the sand around the Asado Desert.

Hippopotas is one of the many Pokemon that look different depending on gender. Male hippos’ eyes are brown in color, and their muzzle and body are mostly beige. Female hippos’ colors are inverted, meaning their eyes are beige and their snout and body are brown.

Where to find Hippoterus in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Hippodon is not found naturally in the wilderness of Paldeawhich means the only way to get one is by evolving Hippopotas or getting one through trading.

Like its pre-evolution, Hippoterus has different appearances depending on gender. Male Hippoterus’ bodies are beige, while their muzzle, back, and legs are dark gray. In contrast, the Hippowdown female’s body is all gray, and her snout, back, and legs are dark gray.

How to evolve Numel in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Those who raised hippos in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl will be familiar with raising one in Gen 9 as its evolution method hasn’t changed. To develop hippos, Just level it up to level 34.
