What to expect at Hockey Day Minnesota 2023 – The Rink Live

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minnesota – Hockey Day Minnesota begins Thursday and Polar Lakes Park in White Bear Lake is almost ready for the weekend of celebrations – and of course, lots of hockey.

The gates to the 2023 event will officially open at 4:30pm on Thursday 26th January and the entertainment will continue into Sunday evening.

“To be a part of the event (Hockey Day Minnesota) is an honor and I know our team is very excited to do so,” said Forest Lake Girls’ Hockey Head Coach Andrew Richardson. “The rink looks really cool and it’s a cool feeling just to have the opportunity to play outside and be a part of something.”

Forest Lake plays Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for the very first game of the event.

As for the weather, it certainly won’t be as cold as Bemidji’s 2019, when it was 26 below on Hockey Day Minnesota. On Thursday the maximum temperature in White Bear Lake is 15 under partly cloudy skies with westerly winds at 11 km/h. Friday will be slightly windier with cloudy skies and a high of 29. On Saturday temperatures will drop to 8 for a high with light winds under a mostly cloudy sky.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $45 depending on the day or age. Children under the age of 5 have free entry.

Some of the high school teams that will be featured throughout the weekend have already unveiled special Hockey Day jerseys, which can be seen below.

Stillwater is looking forward to attending Hockey Day on Saturday as the girls team will take on rival White Bear Lake at 9:30 a.m

“Our entire city, actually our youth program, has sponsored fan buses that go when we leave on Saturday mornings and we will cross over as a community,” said Stillwater head coach Annie Cashman.

“All of these little kids and girls in the community are going to be having a lot of Hockey Day alongside our high school kids.”

Hermantown will take on Mahtomedi and Hill-Murray will take on hometown hosts White Bear Lake on Saturday afternoon for the boys’ varsity games.

In addition to the high school fixtures, the St. Cloud State women’s hockey team’s game against Bemidji State will be broadcast live on Bally Sports North Extra Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s hockey team will watch the SCSU game on BSN Extra when they play Michigan State at 4:00 p.m

The Minnesota Wild will then wrap up Saturday’s main event when they take on the Buffalo Sabers at 8 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul
