Get ready to see the world of national parks from a new perspective! And it’s a perspective that’s super endearing. The new animated series from Netflix spirit ranger Stars three aboriginal children who become junior park rangers. The first trailer for the show introduces us to Kodi, Summer and Eddy and their Spirit Forms. The trio of youngsters express nothing but joy at becoming a park ranger. As we can see, they may be learning how to become a parking attendant, but they’re already excellent. I can’t wait to see all of their adventures as they protect the animals in the park. Also, they seem to be keeping an eye out for the park itself!
This historical series is the first children’s program in US television history to be created by a Native American woman. Karissa Valencia is the showrunner and executive producer spirit ranger along with Chris Nee (Doc McStuffins). spirit ranger also has a room for all native writers.
The synopsis of the series is as follows:
Inspired by tales of Native American tribes and the majestic landscapes of America’s national parks, Spirit Rangers explores the adventure and beauty of nature through the eyes of Kodi, Summer and Eddy Skycedar, the Chumash/Cowlitz siblings who share a secret. This trio of kids are “Spirit Rangers” who help protect the land and spirits of the national park they call home in California. Taking on new perspectives as grizzly bear cub, red-tailed hawk and spunky turtle, the Skycedar Children take on every challenge with courage and compassion – from helping a lost thunderbird to waking a sleepy sun. Created by tribal descendant Santa Ynez Chumash and first California Native showrunner Karissa Valencia, the fantasy-adventure preschool series celebrates community, nature and the rich legacy of Native American storytelling.

Play the three children in spirit ranger, we have Wačíŋyeya Iwáš’aka Yracheta as Kodi Skycedar; Isis Celilo Rogers as Summer Skycedar; and Talon Proc Alford as Eddy Skycedar. The cast also includes Kimberly Guerrero as Mom; John Timothy as father; Cree Summer as Lizard and DeeDee; and Shaun Taylor-Corbett as Coyote; Wes Studi as Sunny; Tantoo Cardinal as Moon; Devery Jacobs as Wind Eagle; and Nyla Rose as Lawetlat’la.
