Vladimir Putin’s adult attempt to recruit soldiers for the war
A reportedly desperate Vladimir Putin has advertised on Pornhub to persuade Russian men to join his war against Ukraine.
An advert by the country’s Wagner mercenary group, a pro-Kremlin private army founded by Yevgeny Prigozhin – a close Putin ally who has been dubbed his “chef” – has gone viral since he first appeared this week on the popular pornographic site was discovered.
The commercial, in which a blonde woman turns a lollipop in her mouth and urges men to stop watching porn and start fighting, was shown to Russian users before they viewed explicit content on the Canadian site.
In the ad, a woman’s voice can be heard telling male viewers, “We’re the coolest damn private army in the world.
“We recruit fighters from all regions of Russia. Don’t go away, go and work for Wagner [private military company].” At the end, Wagner’s phone number appears on the screen.
Pornhub said on Friday that the commercial has now been “deleted” because “political advertising is prohibited on the site.”
The strategy of recruiting through multiple explicit websites was supported by Mr. Prigozhin, who reportedly said, “Placing ads for Wagner PMC on porn sites is a very good idea by our marketers.”
“I absolutely agree with them, and this ad says, ‘Go to war, stop kidding yourself.’ Who disagrees with this argument?”
Wagner loses tens of thousands of fighters
The private army is credited with leading the Russian attack on Bakhmut in Ukraine but has lost tens of thousands of combatants, including many prisoners recruited from prisons.
This week there have been signs of desperation over Russian recruitment for the war. According to reports, for the first time, female prisoners have been sent to the front lines to fight in Putin’s military operation.
Putin has already used convicted murderers and rapists from male penal colonies to wipe Ukraine off the map.
A battalion called Española, made up of football hooligans and classified as a separate private military company for Putin, is also promoting recruitment.
