Utah State Football begins spring training Monday, March 20th

Under the guidance of the head coach in the third year Blake Andersonwho is in his 10th year as the collegiate head coach of Utah State Football, will begin spring training Monday, March 20 at 4:00 p.m. All training takes place at Merlin Olsen Field in Maverik Stadium or at the Stan Laub Indoor Football Complex.All practice sessions at Maverik Stadium are open to the public, while practice sessions at the Laub Complex are closed.
During the five-week period, the Aggies will participate in 15 spring drills, including their annual Blue vs. White Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. Media interviews are available upon request after all exercises.
This spring, Utah State is bringing back 10 starters (O-4, D-6) as part of 38 letter winners (O-20, D-15, S-3) from last year’s team that finished with a 6-7 record and played his 10th bowl game in the last 12 years and 16th in school history. USU also finished second in the Mountain West’s Mountain Division with a 5-3 league mark.
The 2023 Utah State returnees are a trio of All Mountain West artists sophomores S Ike Larsensenior ILB MJ Tafisi and Senior WR Terrell Vaughn. Larsen received second-team All-MW honors and was named a College Football News Honorable Mention Freshman All-American, while Tafisi and Vaughn both received All-MW Honorable Mention honors.
Other starters returning for Utah State in 2023 include Senior CB Michael AnyanwuSenior CB Ajani Carterolder QB Cooper LegasSenior Ol Wade MeachamSenior DT Hale Motu’apuakasenior TE Josh Sterzer and Senior DT Poukesi Vakauta.
Along with its 10 returning starters and 38 returning lettermen from last season, Utah State welcomes 23 players who switched redshirts a year ago (O-12, D-9, S-2) and five other squadmen (O-2 , D-3). ) who were on the team, along with 33 newcomers (O-13, D-17, S-3). Among the new players are a trio of four-year senior transfers Malone Mataele (Utah), Junior WR Colby Bowman (Stanford) and sophomore ILB Gavin Bartheel (Washington). Also this spring, USU welcomes 16 junior college transfers (O-7, D-8, S-1) as well as 14 high school players (O-5, D-7, S-2).

Utah State opens the 2023 season on Saturday, September 2 in Iowa, while its home opener comes the following weekend against Idaho State on Saturday, September 9. USU begins Saturday, September 16 with Mountain West in the Air Force.
