East Garo Hills District Cricket Association and Ri-Bhoi District Cricket Association today won their respective matches at the Meghalaya Cricket Association U-15 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2023.
While EGH defeated North Garo Hills District Cricket Association in Zone 2 in Williamnagar by six wickets, Ri-Bhoi won by a mighty 158 runs against Shillong Cricket Association-B in Zone 1’s Umbuda.
Resumption on 05.05. in response to NGH’s 40, EGH was restricted to 92, with Chanang Sangma earning the highest score with 50 of 53 deliveries. Chingjring K Marak (3/14) and Tengrik Sangma (3/18) shone with the ball.
NGH put on a better show in their second innings but was still out on 108, with 18 being No. 11 batsman Henry Yoga A Sangma’s highest score. Namgrik K Sangma scored an impressive 6/35. This left EGH with a target of 57 for the win and they took it with six wickets in hand. Chanang again failed to top the charts at 19.
In the other game yesterday, Ri-Bhoi had 177 and SCA-B had 104 in their respective first innings. Ri-Bhoi started their second innings today and then made 138 all outs, capitalizing on half a century from Gaurav Narleng (62 of 56) with Joseph Mathew (5/28) claiming a five-wicket move.
SCA-B were therefore given a target of 212 for the win, but they were reduced to 17/7 by their opponents thanks to superlative bowling. Navneet Sah, the only batsman to go into doubles, put up some resistance in an innings of 34, but SCA-B ended up being sacked for just 53. The wickets were dealt by Sanjay Sawkuta (4/21), Suraj Kapri (3/14) and Benedict Jones Makdoh (2/9).
The next games start on Monday. In Zone 1, the East Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association will play against the West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association, while in Zone 2, the West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association will play against the South Garo Hills District Cricket Association.
