Toto Wolff’s fortune: how much does the Mercedes team boss earn?

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Racing Team is the fourth most successful F1 team of all time. It’s amazing to see that they’ve only reached this level of performance since their release in 2010. This success can only be attributed to two personalities altogether, 7-time WDC Champion Lewis Hamilton and their team boss Toto Wolff.
Wolff is the most important part of the Mercedes legacy in F1, joining them in 2014 and being the constant driver of success in the turbo-hybrid era. He was a driver in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the Austrian Formula Ford Championship, the Italian GT Championship and the FIA GT Championship.

Alongside Christian Horner from Red Bull, Toto Wolff is the most discussed team boss in Formula 1. Both share mutual respect, but are arch-rivals in sport.
Toto Wolff’s salary
Toto Wolff surpasses competitor Christian Horner as well as more than half of the F1 grid combined. The Mercedes legend is believed to be paid a staggering $16.9 million each year, making him the highest-paid team owner in his sport. The Austrian is paid more than all drivers on the grid except for Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.
In 2021, Wolff was reportedly paid around $26 million in total, including bonuses and base salary.
Toto Wolff’s endorsements and investments
Wolff had a 30% stake in the Mercedes F1 team, which he later increased by 3% to 1/3 of the company’s stake. He also holds minor interests in the Williams F1 Team and a 1% interest in the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team. He also owns a 49% stake in Germany’s HWA AG, which runs the German Touring Car Masters racing program for Mercedes Benz.
Surprisingly in all of this, Wolff is also a co-owner of BRR Rallye Racing alongside former F1 driver Mika Häkkinen.

The Austrian is worth around $580 million, making him richer than the richest F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. He owns two houses, one in Emratingen, Switzerland and one in Oxfordshire, England. The 51-year-old has investments totaling $140 million and a combined net worth of $370 million. He also has over $100 million in diversified equity investments in companies including Apple, Alphabet, Coca-Cola, JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway.
Toto Wolff’s car collection
Toto Wolff is a car enthusiast at the highest level. In one of his interviews, he stated that he didn’t know how many cars he owned. Some of the more memorable cars from his list include a Mercedes AMG GTR, a Mercedes SLS AMG, a Mercedes SLS 300 SL, a Bugatti Veyron and a Maserati Granturismo.
Lewis Hamilton acknowledges the Austrian as his boyfriend and commented on their relationship. “We’ve had tough, tough times, we’ve had tough negotiations, there have been emotional outbursts, a roller coaster of feelings together over the years, but we’re like family. I want the best for him. He wants the best for me.” in a job interview.
Wolff is married to Scottish driver Susie Wolff and they also have one child together. He also has two children, Benedict and Rosa Wolff, from his ex-wife Stephani. He currently lives with Susie in his villa in Switzerland.
