In October 2019, global pop sensation Lady Gaga seemed confused about what Fortnite is.

“What is a fortnight?” Gaga tweetedwhich elicited numerous responses.

A response from blue-haired Fortnite streamer Ninja asked Gaga to play with him. “Who are you?” was Gagas answer.

Fast forward three years and both Fortnite and Lady Gaga are back in the news as fans collectively find evidence that some form of collaboration or concert is indeed in the works.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed the artwork for Fortnite’s latest Pride event – above – features characters posing from Gaga’s Bad Romance music video – and the artist can also be seen on the event’s radio station.

In recent years, Fortnite has struggled to license its music and choreography following previous emote lawsuits. The suggestion here, fans say, is that Gaga is certainly on board in some way.

Next, a datamined emote was found to be released in the future, featuring characters playing instruments to the melody of the Poker Face track, which was specially re-recorded. I could get this:

But perhaps the strongest piece of evidence remains Lady Gaga’s appearance in Epic Games documents itself, alongside references to a slew of other pop stars who have surfaced as part of their legal battles with Apple.

This treasure trove of confidential information contained numerous development collaboration details, many of which were planned months and years in advance before they actually happened.

Here we heard that Epic Games had tried – and sadly failed – to convince Nintendo to allow Samus Aran to join Fortnite in 2020, along with Xbox’s Master Chief and PlayStation’s Kratos.

It’s also where we heard about plans for upcoming concerts from J Balvin and Ariana Grande — the latter scheduled more than a year in advance. It’s also where we heard about early plans for Fortnite to team up with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and LeBron James – both of whom eventually resurfaced.
