Palihouse Santa Barbara – named one of the best new hotels of 2022 by Travel + Leisure It List – combines retro, modern, luxury and Mediterranean with the best snacks and drinks throughout the day.
Dubbed the “American Riviera,” Santa Barbara is one of California’s most popular destinations for its beaches, museums, entertainment, restaurants, wineries and near-perfect climate. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live there, a stay at the Palihouse will give you a pretty good idea. Located near downtown in the historic Presidio neighborhood, this charming boutique hotel makes you feel like a local — a well-groomed local, that is.
From one of the Palihouse’s 24 elegant guest rooms or suites, stroll into the Funk Zone for an impromptu dinner, ride your complimentary bike on a sunny morning, or walk your dog through the quaint neighborhood streets. You even have your own Smeg fridge fully stocked with drinks, coffee and ice cream in the freezer. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the courtyard among palm trees and pink umbrellas, or reading a book on your private balcony. On warm days you might splash around in the outdoor pool, and when it’s chilly you can curl up in front of your fireplace.
One of Palisociety’s unique hotels and residences, The Palihouse offers the eclectic design and hip hospitality of their other properties, as well as its location in an old building that has been converted into a modernized boutique. Italian linens, floral wallpaper, vibrant colors, and cleverly chosen portrait art combine to create what they call “vintage-preppy meets American Riviera.”
Other personal touches include 24-hour concierge service, in-room dining, a neighborhood guide, a Pali Vibes playlist, and soda and a candy bar every afternoon. There are poolside cabanas, Peloton bikes in the fitness center, and grocery shopping service. Pawlisociety, their pet program, includes organic treats upon arrival, luxury dog beds, toys, food and water bowls, a guide to local dog-friendly activities, and courtesy bags with a one-time $150 pet registration fee.
The all day menu includes breakfast and lunch until 3pm. After that there are cocktails and a bar menu until 9pm and of course there is your well stocked fridge if hunger strikes at any time of the day. After a few days in Santa Barbara at the Palihouse and the idea of being a spoiled local, you’ll want to stay longer — but at least you know what it’s like to live on the American Riviera.
