The Sandman, renewed, season 2

After rumors spread that Netflix had canceled The Sandmanand forced Neil Gaiman to do it himself call herAs Deadline reports, the streaming service has actually renewed the series for Season 2

The renewal of The Sandman was accidentally leaked on the official DC Comics Twitter page today. “the dream goes on‘ read the now-deleted tweet. “[The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel to explore even more tales of the endless.” Even though The Sandman received rave reviews after its August 5 debut, it wasn’t immediately clear if Netflix would renew the series. Neil Gaiman had said that the future of the series was uncertain, so I’m sure fans are more than a little pleased to know that The Sandman was actually renewed for season 2. Update: In a statement, Neil Gaiman said:

Millions and millions of people have welcomed, watched and loved The Sandman on Netflix, from established Sandman fans to people who were just curious and then became obsessed with the Lord of Dreams, his family and their antics. It fills me with incredible excitement to say that Allan Heinberg, David Goyer and I will bring more stories from The Sandman to life through our collaboration with Netflix and Warner Bros. There are some amazing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet). No one will be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: they are the biggest Sandman fans out there. And now it’s time to get back to work. After all, a family dinner is coming up. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…

Tom Sturridge stars in the lead role The Sandman as Morpheus/Dream, alongside Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, David Thewlis as Dr. John Dee, and more.
