Several scoopers have claimed that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will get its own Disney+ spin-off when it returns Daredevil: Reborn.
After appearing on daredevil Jon Bernthal, who is directing two seasons of his own spin-off series at Netflix, is finally returning as the infamous Punisher under Marvel Studios next year Daredevil: Reborn.
The series is expected to serve as a soft Disney+ reboot for Netflix daredevil as it brings back Matt Murdock from Charlie Cox and Kingpin from Vincent D’Onofrio for a fresh breakthrough with those characters rolled into one “very different” Direction.
Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Gets Disney+ Reboot (Rumor)

shovel MyTimeToShineHello announced in a recent tweet that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil won’t be the only one to get the Disney+ treatment, with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher now also rumored to be getting his own rebooted series.
Having previously appeared on Netflix, Bernthal’s Frank Castle will be returning to the MCU for a soon “significant” roll next year Daredevil: Reborn.
This wouldn’t be the first time the Punisher got his own series after a major role in a Daredevil project. Exactly the same thing happened on Netflix when Frank Castle repeated himself daredevil Season 2 before getting his own two-season series.
Streamers Caiden Reed similarly explained a Punisher Disney+ series in development. He also claimed one is in the works for mystical superhero White Tiger, who is rumored to be joining the MCU Daredevil: Reborn.
Why Disney+’s Punisher will still be dark and violent
Many have expressed concerns rebornparticularly in regards to fears that it will be Disneyfied and too light-hearted compared to the dark and somber story on Netflix daredevil. And no doubt fans will feel the same apprehensions for a character as dark, violent, and mature as the Punisher.
Well, Jon Bernthal’s return itself offers some hope on that front, as the actor was clear back in October 2021 that he would only want to return if that were the case “dark… [and] rough enough” to give to the fans “what they deserve:”
“It’s just a matter of if they do, will we be able to do it right? Is it getting dark enough? Does it get dirty enough? Are we giving the fans and the people who care so much about this character, are we giving them what they deserve?”
So, with Bernthal back on board for reborn and perhaps now his own Disney+ spin-off, the Punisher, seems to be in safe hands with Marvel Studios. After all, while that doesn’t mean both shows will necessarily be TV-MA (R-Rated), there are plenty of ways to cast a dark tone without the gore, swearing, and gore.
The decision to frame reborn as a soft restart of Netflix daredevil has proved controversial, especially after the character’s initial recast was confirmed. But The Punisher possibly easier to restart since the show was far less popular and didn’t really have supporting characters as popular as daredevil‘s Foggy and Karen.
Kingpin’s mayoral takeover in Daredevil: Reborn is expected to impact several other street-level movies and series, including Spiderman 4. With The Punisher confirmed and White Tiger rumored daredevil reboot, it’s easy to see how this story could perhaps be continued in their own projects.
Both seasons of The Punisher streaming now on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again will bring back Jon Bernthal’s heroes when it premieres in Spring 2024.
