You may have seen beauty influencers and celebs wearing LED masks.

Instagram is full of people who look like Jason Voorhees in the middle of treatment, only to remove the device and reveal a complexion that inspires anything but horror.

You used to have to pay big bucks to have the treatment done in a salon, but advances in technology have led to a number of home devices being launched.

Even these would normally cost you around £300…until now.

SwearBy Skin has released an affordable yet effective at-home masking device priced at just £80.

Founder Shenae Rae explains where the idea for the LookLit LED mask came from: “I wanted to create something that wouldn’t cost a fortune and that would help people feel more confident in their own skin.

“Also, since I became a mom, signing up for treatment had become a real mess, so I wanted this to be a tool you can carry at home whenever you find the time.”

Just like its expensive counterparts, the LookLit LED mask has three color modes, each with different wavelengths to penetrate different depths of the skin and stimulate a different response.

The red light stimulates collagen production, plumps the skin and boosts luminosity, yellow reduces redness and pigmentation and promotes cell production, and the blue light kills bacteria to eliminate and prevent blemishes.

While some skin care techniques (like lasers) are unsuitable for black skin, this is for everyone. In fact, the yellow light is particularly effective on darker skin tones, as Shenae specifically wanted to appeal to a wider range of people.

Just clean and dry your face and put on the mask similar to sunglasses. Choose your light mode and leave on for 10 minutes before applying your skincare routine as usual.

The main difference between the LookLit LED mask and more expensive models? Perfomance.

“You might see faster results with a very expensive device, but unsurprisingly not everyone has £500 to spare,” says Shenae.

To see visible results, SwearBy Skin recommends using the mask 3-5 times a week for 12 weeks.

Shenae continues, “Certain skin types (e.g. younger complexions) will notice a difference in a much shorter time frame.”

It works for all skin types and uses 0% unsafe UV rays, wipes clean and charges in just 20 minutes.

Plus, there’s the obvious benefit of not having to go to a professional for a skincare boost.
