What is the plot of The Flash?
The official synopsis for The Flash via Warner Bros. reads:
Warner Bros. Pictures presents “The Flash,” directed by Andy Muschietti (the “IT” films, “Mama”). Ezra Miller reprises his role as Barry Allen in the DC superhero’s first-ever standalone feature film. Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back to change past events. But when his attempt to save his family accidentally changes the future, Barry is thrust into a reality where General Zod has returned and destruction looms, and there are no superheroes to turn to. Unless Barry can coax another Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian – albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, Barry’s only hope is to run for his life to save the world he is in and return to the future he knows. But will the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
Previous announcements have indicated that the film will be based on the events of the Flashpoint comic book. In this story, Flash attempts to change the past to save his mother, resulting in a parallel timeline.
Miller has stated that “our precious DC Universe will inevitably be torn apart by an endless, headache-inducing fabric of multiversality,” which is certainly exciting to think about.
And now that we know a bit more about the multiverse that the film is said to be exploring, we also know that director Andy Muschietti has claimed that the film will be “a bit of a hinge in the sense that it’s going to be a story presented, which implies a unified universe in which all cinematic iterations we’ve seen before are valid. ”
“It is comprehensive in the sense that it says that everything you have seen exists and everything you will see in the future exists in the same unified multiverse,” explains the author.
Mussetti also mentioned in an interview with Vanity Fair that the film would explore the connection between The Flash and Batman, saying, “It’s Barry’s film; It’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think.
“The fact that they both witnessed the murder of their mothers is one of the film’s most important emotional touchstones. This is where Ben Affleck’s Batman comes in. I look forward to working with someone who has experience on both the acting and directing side of the camera. He understands.”
In terms of filming, the film was shot in many different locations. However, the fact that the Gotham City scenes were shot in Glasgow and Edinburgh is what intrigues us the most.
