The Armed Forces Cycling Classic celebrates its 25th anniversary in Arlington

The Armed Forces Cycling Classic (AFCC), presented by The Boeing Company, will celebrate its 25th edition as the DMV region’s premier cycling event when it returns to Arlington, VA over the weekend of June 3rd and 4th, 2023, with the events beginning in Crystal City / National Landing on Saturday and concluding in Clarendon on Sunday. Cycling weekend kicks off during World Bicycle Day (June 3rd) which celebrates the joy of cycling.
The weekend’s action begins early on Saturday, June 3rd in Crystal City/National Landing with the Challenge Ride of the Armed Forces Cycling Classic. The ride is a closed course open to cycling enthusiasts of all skill levels, from casual amateurs to serious competitors, as well as corporate challenge teams and participants from all branches of the armed forces. Saturday continues with the Women’s Pro/AM race as they begin their hunt for the weekend’s Omnium Total (consistent finisher over the two days), the Kids Race (9 and under) and culminate with Day 1 of the Men’s Pro /Am. The 25th annual Clarendon Cup takes place on Sunday 4th June and includes the 2nd day of Pro/AM races for both women and men where the talented winners are announced on the legendary 1km course around the Clarendon Metro are given.
The main event of the AFCC will feature the country’s best male and female professional cyclists over two days of exciting racing. The AFCC has also become a nationally heralded event recognized for: the long tradition of honoring the history of the sport, celebrating the sport’s growing diversity, its place in the community with the ability to offer participation to cyclists of all ages and abilities , and she proudly supports those affected by the loss of loved ones who served in our armed forces.
This year, Amazon is encouraging other companies and organizations to form teams to participate in the Amazon Corporate Challenge. Teams participate in the challenge ride and are also invited to raise funds for the event’s beneficiary, Tragedy Assistance for Survivors (TAPS), who cares for the families of America’s fallen heroes. The three best fundraising teams will be awarded on stage after the Challenge Ride.
