Speaking of which, Clijsters brought to light the “negative” but entertaining side of the 20-time Grand Slam champion. The WTA legend revealed how a young Federer very bluntly mocked a tennis player during a tournament in Japan. They watched the Swiss team compete at the event as the Swiss tennis maestro got “so pumped up” after criticizing a player. In particular, Clijsters said: “Positive and negative, right? He had them both.”

Even though Federer showed his “negative” side, it was quite entertaining for the four-time Grand Slam champion. Recalling their conversation, Clijsters said: “‘Hey, let’s see Switzerland play because this guy is playing… the funny guy is playing’. Well I remember that was really funny as a kid.”

Apart from his funny personality, the Belgian tennis legend also opened up about Federer’s wife Mirka. Even though Clijsters may have made this aspect of Federer public, some fans are still unaware of his romantic side.

Federer once showed his romantic side

Roger and Mirka’s love story dates back to the 2000 Sydney Olympics where they traveled together. Speaking about their relationship in his biopic The Master, the 44-year-old once revealed how a young Federer made her swoon with his romantic side.

The Backstreet Boys song did the former tennis ace good as Mirka was already in love with him. He showcased his singing talents while they represent their country during this tournament.
