Tennis defeats A&M Corpus Christi, 4-1
HOUSTON — The University of Houston tennis program picked up its third straight win of the season after beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-1 at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Saturday afternoon.
For a third straight game, Houston (11-5) led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-2) to win the colon.
For a second game in a row, the tandem of Maria Dzemeshkevich And Sophie Schouten took the win in second place after beating Emma Aucagne and Palina Saulevich 6-4. Azul Pedemonti And Sonya Kovalenko took the double for the Cougars after a 6-4 win in third place over the Islanders’ Valeria Cherfus and Kateryna Rublevska
In singles, the Islanders tied the score in fifth place after defeating Cherfus Blanca Cortijo Parreno6-0, 6-4.
Laura Slisane won her fourth straight singles win this season after beating Naomi Moi McKenszie 6-1, 6-2. Schouten increased Houston’s lead to 3-1 after a 6-1, 7-5 win in fourth over Victoire Delattre.
Pedemonti gave Houston the winning point with a 6-4, 6-2 win in third place over Pinto.
The Cougars are now 6-3 all time against the Islanders.

Houston travels to Ruston, La. to face Louisiana Tech on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and stays in Ruston to face Grambling on Saturday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m.
The Cougars return to the friendly on Thursday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. against North Texas on Sunday, April 2 at 11:00 a.m. and Monday, April in a three-match home stand against the FIU Boundaries of the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility back 3 at 10 p.m
