Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin has been in his new job for almost a month and has been discussing his priorities. Mullin came to the office after more than 10 years as Congressman for Northeast Oklahoma. KOCO 5 spoke to Mullin about inflation and prices, and he said it goes hand-in-hand with the issue that tops his list: Energy Independence I’m not into energy either. Energy is the backbone. We’ve talked about this before, Andy. Energy is the backbone of our economy. It’s the beginning of every product made and so every product is delivered,” Mullin said. Mullin said the energy industry needs more stability. He has authored legislation that would open up the pipeline permitting and fracking agency process beyond the president. He would also expand states’ ability to control oil and gas exploration on federal land.He argued that these bills would help the US be less dependent on foreign oil.KOCO 5 asked if there was movement down the aisle, when it comes to greater energy independence.”On the Senate side, you could see a bipartisan movement with some energy bills. Like I said, if they’re really serious about bringing inflation down and getting the economy back on track, they can You can’t do that without talking about energy independence and affordable and reliable energy,” said Mullin. KOCO 5 spoke to the Senator on the latest news from Washington DC, with President Joe Biden announcing plans to send tanks to Ukraine. We asked if the US should do the same after Germany said they would send some tanks. “It’s not so easy to send the tanks there and they’re inoperable, and how do we make sure that information doesn’t get into, say, Russian hands,” Mullin said. KOCO 5 also touched on the subject of abortion. Mullin said there had been no movement for a national ban on abortion, but he did not rule out voting for such a law.
Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin has been in his new job for almost a month and has been discussing his priorities.
Mullin came to the office after more than 10 years as Congressman for Northeast Oklahoma. KOCO 5 spoke to Mullin about inflation and prices, and he said it goes hand-in-hand with the issue at the top of his list: energy independence.
“You can’t really talk about inflation and an economy if you don’t also have it with energy. Energy is the backbone. We’ve talked about this before, Andy. Energy is the backbone of our economy the start of every product manufacture and the way every product is delivered,” said Mullin.
Mullin said the energy industry needs more stability. He has authored legislation that would open up the pipeline permitting process and fracking agency beyond the president.
It would also expand states’ ability to control oil and gas exploration on federal land. He argued that these bills would help the US become less dependent on foreign oil.
KOCO 5 asked if there was movement across the aisle when it came to a little more energy independence.
“On the Senate side, you could see a bipartisan movement with some energy bills. Like I said, if you’re really serious about bringing inflation down and getting the economy back on track, you can’t do that without talking about energy independence and having affordable and reliable energy,” Mullin said.
KOCO 5 spoke to the Senator about the latest news from Washington DC, with President Joe Biden announcing he will be sending tanks to Ukraine. We asked, after Germany said it would send some tanks, if the US should do the same.
“It’s not so easy to send the tanks there. It’s about understanding how we recover them in case they become destroyed and inoperable, and how we make sure information doesn’t end up in, say, Russian hands,” Mullin said.
KOCO 5 also touched on the subject of abortion. Mullin said there had been no movement for a national ban on abortion, but he did not rule out voting for such a law.
