Los Alamos Science Festival 2022: Exploration will be extended into the weekend with Discovery Day on Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Ashley Pond Park and the surrounding area.
Central Avenue will be closed Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from 20th Street through Oppenheimer, with public access to the Justice Center parking lot continuing.
The community and visitors are invited to experience hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) demonstrations from approximately 40 exhibitors, food vendors, music from the Troy Browne Trio, the launch of StoryWalk® at Mesa and White Rock Libraries, Bradbury Science Museum Challenge Tomorrow Trailer, Electric Vehicle Show, Robotics and More!
Those who stop by the Los Alamos MainStreet/Info booth to enter a raffle also have a chance to win a telescope.

The Friends of Los Alamos County Library System is hosting a major science/technology book sale this Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Mesa Public Library.
Tours of the Los Alamos Historic District are available on Discovery Day at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM. Tours begin approximately 1,000 years ago and take visitors through ancestral Puebloans, homesteads, the Los Alamos Ranch School, the Manhattan Project, Cold War and contemporary Los Alamos. Emphasis on espionage, cultures and answering visitor questions. The cost is $20 and the tour lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Tickets include museum admission and are available at the Los Alamos History Museum Shop. Visitors under the age of 18 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
After Discovery Day, the fun continues on Saturday with a special film screening at Fuller Lodge and on Sunday with a discussion on the science of beer and an outdoor film at Bathtub Row Brewing.

Friends of MAPR-LA (who support NPS Historical Park) are showing a film about the Trinity Test – the first atomic bomb test in history. July 16, 2022 falls on the 77th anniversary of this event. The Bathtub Brewing Co-op serves beer and wine. Tickets for this event, with limited seating (100), will be sold to 501(c)(3) Friends for a tax-deductible donation of $20 each. Tickets are available in advance at Metzgers-Los Alamos, Bathtub Row Brewery, Pajarito Brewpub and Grill, and the Los Alamos History Museum.
SUNDAY 17 JULY

8pm – Movie at Dusk: “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” at the Bathtub Brewing Co-op, on the outdoor patio
Outdoor film screening, along with fun facts and a chance to win prizes! Before the film starts, learn about beer chemistry from the head brewer! This 1989 adventure comedy runs approximately 1.5 hours and is rated PG. The scientist, father of a girl and a teenage boy, accidentally shrinks his and two other neighborhood teenagers to the size of insects. Now the teenagers must fight against tiny dangers while their father searches for them.
