Samsung Galaxy A34 and A54 5G design: what do the new cheap smartphones look like?

The Samsung Galaxy A34 and A54 both come in three colors: (Awesome) Graphite, (Awesome) Lime and (Awesome) Violet. The A34 is also available in white, while the A54 has a special silver edition.

While the A54 looks very similar, it’s slightly smaller with a 6.4-inch display and can be distinguished by the front camera’s Infinity O design – meaning it appears as a small black dot appearing on the front of the screen floats.

More like that

On the A34, the screen is 6.6 inches and has an Infinity-U design – where the front camera dips into the screen in a U-shape. Both are designed to give you minimal distraction when you’re watching or filming on your phone.

On the back, both devices have what’s known as a “floating camera” design, similar to the new S23 series, and all three lenses have a metal surround to match the color of the phone.

The phones also both have increased durability, meaning even the most accident-prone will struggle to scratch them. The A34 has Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, which can withstand a drop of up to 1.2 meters, while the A54 has the same on both the front and back. They can also survive a fall into 1m of fresh water and are built to resist damage from dust and sand.

Samsung Galaxy A34 and A54 5G range specs: What’s new?

Samsung A54

The Samsung A34 and A54 have improved on previous members of the A series in many ways, namely display, performance and camera specs.

First off, the screen on both is 25 per cent brighter than the A53 series (released in 2022) after going from 800 nits to 1,000. That and the 120Hz display make for a much more vibrant screen that’s easy to view even in bright sunlight.

In addition, Samsung has pushed ahead with its new “eye-friendly” display, which reduces the blue light component from 12.5 to 6.5 percent. As you may know, blue light comes from artificial lighting on screens and can sometimes affect your eyes and sleep patterns, so Samsung’s new initiative makes using your device late into the night easier and safer.

In terms of performance, one of the biggest USPs of the A34 and A54 is their battery life, which can last over two days thanks to the 5,000mAh battery. It also only takes about 82 minutes to fully charge, so say goodbye to endless waiting.

Like their predecessors, the A34 and A54 have strong main cameras with 48 MP and 50 MP respectively. But they also feature the new Light Boost technology, which is better at capturing the light in photos and capturing much sharper images, especially in low light conditions. This is thanks to an increase in pixel size and image sensor size in both.

Another new feature is Voice Focus, which is essentially a noise-cancelling mode for phone calls. This blocks out all outside noise, whether it’s traffic, conversations or typical British weather, and your voice becomes the main earpiece that your caller can hear. Smart right?
