Red Bull Racing releases more than $170,000 worth of F1 simulators
Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing has capitalized on its title-winning 2022 season and unveiled two racing simulators based on last year’s dominant racer.
Reigning Formula One champions Red Bull have released a pair of racing simulators based on the team’s title-winning 2022 car – but Australian buyers will have to shell out upwards of $170,000 to purchase the ultimate Man Cave addition.
Both simulators are based on the RB18, the car that brought Red Bull Racing their fifth Formula One Team Championship in 2022 thanks to 17 wins from 22 races. 2022 Drivers’ Champion Max Verstappen won 15 races while teammate Sergio Perez took two victories.
Available through the F1 Authentics On the website, the Red Bull Racing simulators are available in two versions: the “Race Edition” for $139,027 and the “Champions Edition” for $185,369 – and no, these prices are not a typo.
It’s worth noting that the above prices also don’t include the cost of shipping to Australia, which is quoted at around £16,500 – the equivalent of $30,000.
According to the listing, thanks to design data from Red Bull Racing, the simulators will be “manufactured using the same processes as the real race cars”, while the team’s 2022 livery has been applied to the exterior, available with either Verstappen’s #1 or Perez #11.
Despite the $45,000 price difference, the only additional features of the Champions Edition simulator are the addition of a nose and front wing assembly – parts that create crucial downforce in real life but don’t make drivers faster on the virtual track.
High-end sim racing hardware like a PC, curved-screen monitor, F1 steering wheel, pedals, and speakers are also included in the purchase price, so buyers don’t need to bring their own gear to get the simulators up and running.
F1 Authentics claims international shipping of the simulators from Europe will take around four to six weeks, meaning Australian buyers who order now should receive their purchase by the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the end of April.
The second round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship takes place this weekend at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia.
