In a close duel, the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School girls’ tennis team defeated Greenfield 3-2 on Monday.

PVCICS swept in singles while Green Wave thrived in doubles. Alissa Shinn’s (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) matchup against Kaitlyn Collins was close until the end. Christina Heiney (6-1, 6-4) defeated Mireb Gheorghita in the second singles.

Lydia Wood and Isabella Semonelli won the first doubles 6-7, 6-3, 10-4.

Greenfield (2-2) will travel home to face Chicopee on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. PVCICS (5-0) will take on Palmer on Tuesday, May 9 at 4:00 p.m

Ludlow boys tennis beats West Springfield

Ludlow’s two braces contributed to the 3-2 win over West Springfield.

The Lions struggled in singles while the Terriers won their first two singles games with victories from Syed Bukhari and Sushil Gurung, but Ben Goodreau brought what it took to give Ludlow a victory with a third singles win 7-5, 6-3 consolidate.

Ryan Cruz and John Goncalves (6-2, 6-3) and Jon Goncalves and Gavin Vala (resigned) both won their doubles matchups for the Lions.

Ludlow (8-0) plays Northampton on Thursday 11 May at 16:30. West Springfield (4-6) falls by the wayside to take on Westfield on Tuesday, May 9 at 4:30 p.m
