One of the games that will be part of the free downloadable games on Nintendo Switch Online is the first video game iteration of the Pokemon trading card game.
For those who don’t know, this game lets you play as a new trainer who is on a journey to inherit the legendary cards. To do this, the player must defeat all 8 Club Masters and the 4 Grand Masters in a way that mirrors the main Pokemon video game series, but only in card battles. This is accomplished and achieved through the use of standard in-game Pokemon cards instead of real Pokemon.
The game includes all cards from the original Base, Jungle, and Fossil expansions, as well as several unique cards that are game-only along with other promotional cards. All of these cards are collected in the game by defeating various coaches in each of the eight clubs, as well as a famous Japanese personality named Imakuni. These clubs are scattered across the island and are navigated via the game’s main map. The game also features 50 pre-made decks that are accessible to beginners and players who want to keep things simple, as long as they have all the necessary cards to complete the deck.
Luckily, with the internet in all its glory, you can play multiplayer against your friends without having to use the connecting cable that was available back then.
It’s great to see titles from the past being brought back and given new life like Nintendo does with its classics.
