Pokemon Scarlet & Violet fans are divided over new legendary designs

The Legendaries box for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has caused strong emotions among fans, with some claiming Koraidon and Miraidon don’t feel like Legendary Pokemon.
Legendaries are the strongest creatures in the Pokemon world, according to the lore in their Pokedex entries. There are birds that control the weather, dragons that can manipulate space and time, and monsters that cause endless nightmares.
In most Pokémon games, the story revolves around these creatures with an evil organization trying to use their world-changing abilities to wreak havoc. But recently, fans found the boxing legends a little too tame.
Now, The Pokemon Company has provided details on the Gen 9 boxed Legendaries: Koraidon and Miraidon. And players are divided on whether they think the pair deserves the Legendary Pokémon title.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Legendaries are dividing fans
During Pokemon Presents on Wednesday, August 3rd, Game Freak gave players a look at the different forms of Koraidon and Miraidon. And on August 4th, user OrionExalted shared his opinion on the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Legendaries with the r/pokemon subreddit.
They said, “Anyone else feel like Legendaries are getting less Legendary? I remember seeing things like Mewtwo, Dialga and Palkia, Reshiram, Yveltal, Rayquaza and others and thinking, “Yeah awesome, that looks strong and unique.” They then went on to say that newer Legendaries aren’t the same convey feeling.
With 1.7k upvotes and over 480 comments, passionate fans threw their own opinions into the ring. One commenter agreed, stating, “They skipped the shark in Gen 4 when they introduced the literal gods of space, time and all creation, and things have inevitably been a lot less impressive since.”
Others liked the fact that some Legendary Pokemon are “smaller”. Another user explained, “I mean, not all legendary Pokemon have to be divine tier. How many God Pokémon do they need? And I like how we get S/V legends early for a change.”
A number of users blamed Legendary Pokemon’s oversaturation for this common sentiment. They claimed Legendaries used to feel special if you got four a game, but with ~50 total and each new game offering opportunities to get them all, they feel less that way.
It’s a drastic change in Pokemon’s formula to give players the Legendary box ahead of time. We’ll just have to wait and see if these creatures are as powerful as previous Legendaries, or if they’ll find solace in Box 1.
