Yes, the weather stays in the 90s, but when the skies are clear check out these places below for some cinema fun.

Free movies at Mission Marquee Plaza

The Mission Marquee Plaza, formerly known as the Mission Drive-In Theater, began its free movie season on May 7 on the south side of San Antonio. Film screenings will be shown on a jumbo screen three times a month through November with animation, live action and throwback films. The free event will also feature entertainment, food trucks and live performances.

Free Movies at Santikos Entertainment


San Antonio-based Santikos Entertainment announced that it will be bringing back its free summer movie series to multiple locations on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from June 7th through July 27th.

The films will be screened at 10am on the selected dates at the following locations: Palladium, Casa Blanca, Cibolo, Mayan, Embassy, ​​Northwest, Galaxy, Westlakes and New Braunfels. Santikos advises cinema-goers to arrive early, as tickets are available from the theater box office on the morning of the performance. It is also first come, first served.

On Summer Free Movie Day, Santikos is offering regular drink and popcorn boxes for just $4.50.

Free movies at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts

The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts has brought back HEB Cinema to Will’s Plaza, which will be held on the second Friday of most months beginning June 10 at Will Naylor Smith Riverwalk Plaza.

With the generous support of HEB, Cinema on Will’s Plaza is a series of free public movie nights designed to promote a sense of community with accessible family-friendly entertainment, according to the Tobin Center.

The community is invited to bring their own deck chair and blanket. There will be a full concession stand and bar at the event.

Movies by Moonlight is back for the summer at Travis Park. The city is partnering with Slab Cinema, a pop-up movie company, to host the event for free every Tuesday to encourage locals to come downtown during the weekdays. It starts on June 7th and runs until July 26th.

The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and the film begins after sundown. Beach chairs, blankets and snacks are welcome. St. Mary’s Street Garage offers free parking on Tuesdays after 5pm.

Watch a free movie at the base of the Tower of the Americas. The tower will host an event each month for the remainder of the year. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Movies start at sunset.
