Pathaan: Fans REACT to claims of “empty theatre” with energetic dance videos from inside the theatres

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ is making waves at the box office with sold-out tickets across India and overseas and opens at an estimated Rs 50 crore on the first day of release. The action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand had to go through countless controversies before its release which caused a wave of troubles. However, there was no change in frequency during the opening days of the theater.

However, according to the stellar box office reports, tweets showed empty theaters with the caption, “Is #Pathaan a flop or a hit? I got this clip from someone.” However, “Pathaan” didn’t play in the background.

Now Pathaan fans have shared the same tweets and re-shared videos of people leaving their seats during the show and dancing in theaters to the film’s ending song “Jhoome Jo Pathaan” and “Besharam Rang.”

Many Twitter users also put together a series of videos showing people dancing in the theaters and cheering as they watched. One user wrote: “Compare the reaction of audiences in theaters to Pathan to that of a recent state-sponsored film, where the latter not only provoked vile hate speech in theaters but was later used to provoke violence.”

While another Twitter account wrote: “The audience in the theater started dancing to #JhoomeJoPathaan. People are celebrating the @iamsrk movie after four years,” wrote another. “I’ve seen some tweets claiming the theaters are empty and no one is watching #Pathaan.”

Pathaan received an overwhelming response from audiences, which was shown on over 5,000 screens in major cities such as Delhi-NCR and Mumbai, where shows started at 6:00-7:00, and in many places Yash Raj Films added mailings -Midnight, ie at 00:30.

With around 300 other screens in India, the number of movie screens stands at 8,500 worldwide, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia in prominent roles. Salman Khan also had a cameo appearance in the film’s post-credit scene following Shah Rukh Khan and his final on-screen collaboration with Karan Arjun.
