On the way: DR High Theater Program Nationally Recognized | communities

State-approved DR high theater program

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School has been named a Premiere Community for Theater Education by the Educational Theater Association. The award recognizes schools and districts across the country. At DR, students can participate in a play and musical directed by drama teacher Ellen O’Reilly-LaSalle, as well as a one-act festival written and directed by students. The school also offers introductory and advanced drama courses, workshops with visiting artists and is home to the International Thespian Society Troupe 8319, an honor society for theater students. The students’ work appears on the National Core Art Standards website as an example for the country in the Advanced Acting category. “MS. LaSalle’s knowledge, dedication, professionalism, and passion for the power of the performing arts are qualities she instills in every student in the theater program,” said Principal Gail DeCecco.
