Oklahoma TCU prediction, pick how to watch

BIG 12 conference basketball continues Tuesday night on ESPN+ when the Oklahoma Sooners (11-8) travel south to take on the rising No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs (15-4). Check out ours College Basketball Odds series for our Oklahoma TCU prediction and selection.

The Oklahoma Sooners take their place at the bottom of the Big 12 standings with a 2-5 conference record. While their season hasn’t been ideal, they’ve shown their somber identities in losses to No. 21 Baylor, No. 2 Kansas, and No. 6 Texas, all of which they lost by just seven points. The wins haven’t translated as they’d like, but it proves the Oklahoma Sooners can rival any team in what appears to be the deepest conference in college basketball. They’ll try to hang out with the TCU as they play another street game at a ranked opponent’s house.

TCU has been another upset this season, becoming a matchup nightmare for the rest of the Big 12. They’ve shown their marquee performances in the last three games, toppling No. 11 Kansas State and No. 2 Kansas in overwhelming fashion. In fact, their last game gave the Juggernaut Kansas their worst home loss in over two years, a feat that proves this TCU team means business. With a 4-3 conference record, they are just two games behind the lead in what appears to be college basketball’s closest race. A win over Oklahoma tonight would give TCU a huge boost in confidence and hopefully translate into a top 10 finish next week.

Why Oklahoma could cover the spread

Senior Guard Grant Sherfield has been one of the leaders of this Sooners team for quite some time. This season is no different as he leads the roster in points and assists while shooting 43.5% from the field. Tanner Groves is their best rebounder and shot blocker as it gives the Sooners great presence in the paint. The team as a whole had many points where they will try to improve. The most important of these are their turnover numbers – they average nearly 13 turnovers per contest and in a conference where every team is capable of winning on any given night, turnovers can prove costly when it comes down to it to scrape out profits.

Despite this, the Sooners were able to keep games tight thanks to their strong defense. This game against TCU will be particularly difficult as they will try to choke down a hot TCU team firing at their home rims. With Groves in the paint, Oklahoma will need to defend well on the rim and force TCU to fire contested shots if they want to steal a win here on the road.

Why TCU could cover the spread

The greatest strength of the TCU Horned Frogs is the brand of team basketball they have played. While guard Mike Miles Jr. leads them in scoring, the task of scoring buckets is often spread throughout the lineup. They make it a point to have every player touch the ball once every time on the pitch. They’re averaging an impressive 16.4 assists per game, and with 9 steals per game, the Horned Frogs can make transition points in a hurry. Inflicting one of the worst losses of his career on Bill Self was a massive confidence boost for the Horned Frogs. They’ve earned their #11 spot and will continue to move up when they face off against a tough Big 12 matchup later in their schedule.

TCU can win this game if they try to speed up the pace of the game. They had success against experienced teams and should try to do the same with Oklahoma. The slower this game, the greater the chance that Oklahoma will set the color. TCU will want to control the pace and keep the Sooners on their heels and keep the fans loud.

Final Oklahoma TCU prediction and selection

TCU just has too much momentum at the moment. Her fans will be thrilled to welcome her back home after a historic victory over Kansas. Look for the Horned Frogs to claim a narrow win in a game where Oklahoma won’t run out.

Final Oklahoma TCU Prediction and Pick: TCU Horned Frogs -4.5 (-118)
