Florida Atlantic @ North Texas

Current records: Florida Atlantic 2-3; North Texas 2-3

What you should know

After two games played away, the North Texas Mean Green are returning home. The Mean Green and Florida Atlantic Owls will face off in a Conference USA bout on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET at Apogee Stadium. With both teams suffering defeat in their last game, both go into this game with a little extra motivation.

North Texas suffered a tough loss last week and failed to capitalize on an early lead against the Memphis Tigers. North Texas came up short against Memphis, losing 44-34. North Texas’ loss came despite a good play from QB Austin Aune, who passed on 49 tries for three TDs and 371 yards.

Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic was close but no cigar last week as they lost 28-26 to the Purdue Boilermakers. Florida Atlantic’s loss shouldn’t eclipse the performances of QB N’Kosi Perry, who passed for three TDs and 230 yards on 30 attempts and mustered 94 yards on the floor, and WR LaJohntay Wester, who was at the other end of those TDs and turned to 90 yards reception.

Mean Green is expected to lose this next one by 3. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to wait to place bets this time around as the team is yet to string back-to-back wins against the spread.

The defeats pushed both teams to an identical 2-3. A few offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: North Texas comes into the contest with 12 for the 14th most touchdowns in the country. But the Owls are even better: They go into the matchup with 13 touchdowns, good for 10th-best in the nation. We’ll see if that lead gives Florida Atlantic a path to victory.
