Relive the story before the sequel

We are a week away as of this writing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. That’s quite a short time, especially compared to the six years that have passed since then breath of the wild. So if you need a refresher before the sequel comes out, there’s a short video with a brief synopsis just for you.

Nintendo has released a new video titled “Relive the Story of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” today, recapitulating the story of 2017 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At 6 minutes and 38 seconds, it’s a short and sweet summary of what happened before and during Link’s quest to save Hyrule from Calamity Ganon.

It addresses a few aspects directly, such as Zelda’s efforts to learn her sealing magic and Link’s quest to regain both power and his memories after 100 years in the blue slime. At almost 7 minutes it hits the width.

Still, it would have been nice to at least verify the name of the champions. After all, they died defending Hyrule! Jokes aside, this is probably solid enough for anyone who played the first game but needs a quick refresher before next week and might not want to watch an hour-long recap elsewhere.

The kingdom approaches

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom seven short days away, which is wild to think about. The sequel to breath of the wild has been publicly in development for years, but Nintendo has carefully kept it under wraps and managed not to show much before launch. Well, outside of that Nuts & Bolts-similar hand forces. (That means there are leaks out there, so be careful if you want to stay untouched.)

As it won’t be long now, I’m excited to see what Nintendo does with this direct sequel and how these versions of Link and Zelda will evolve to meet their new challenges. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12th.
