It’s not just Japan that’s obsessed with Japanese romantic drama shows. We’re all in this together, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. What makes the genre so appealing? Well, that’s not entirely clear to me. I think there are two main factors at play here: desperation and desire.
The desperation is that there are no happy endings in life (at least not for most people). The wish is that if you can somehow escape your own despair, maybe you can find happiness.
As a result, the main characters in these shows are usually young people who seem to have it all, but still feel empty inside – they have some kind of internal conflict that makes their lives difficult and unhappy.
They want something more out of their life than just existing day to day; They want love and companionship and happiness but cannot achieve those things until someone comes into their life and is worth it.
This is exactly what Netflix was looking for when it was looking for its next romantic series. Netflix has just released the first teaser poster for their upcoming Japanese romance drama series based on the music by Hikaru Utada. Just look!
Netflix ‘First Love’ is here with the first poster
It’s no secret that Japanese viewers are obsessed with romantic drama. The love genre is a big part of the country’s entertainment industry. As Netflix takes on one of the most incredible stories of all time, it’s going to be huge.
Netflix has revealed the first look for its new series, First Love, starring Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh, directed and written by Yuri Kanchiku. The series is inspired by songs written and composed by J-pop sensation Hikaru Utada.
Hikaru Utada was 16 when she released her first album. She rose to prominence as a singer-songwriter in Japan and became one of the most popular of her generation.
Her groundbreaking album First Love was released almost two decades ago. The Netflix series is an epic love story spanning more than 20 years. “First Love” will be available to stream November 24, 2022.
What is the series about?
First Love is an original love story and follows the fate of a young couple from the late 90’s to the present day. The show examines what it means for love to break down barriers and sheds light on their experiences as they discover what made their relationship so memorable — if only for a day.
Yae Noguchi, an aspiring flight attendant, finds that fate has different plans for her when a tragic accident strikes her in the midst of realizing her dreams.
Harumichi Namiki, a former Self-Defense Forces pilot, is caught between love and his old dream job when Yae suddenly reappears in his life.
One of the best things about this film is its casting. hikari Mitsushima is known for making some bold decisions in her roles, and Takeru Satoh has consistently demonstrated his ability to crack any role.
