In April, Bridgerton Season 2 set a new weekly viewership record for Netflix. Netflix is now releasing more details about the third season of the historical drama.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any details on when Bridgerton Season 3 will premiere.
Season 3 will focus on the love story between her character and Luke Newton’s Colin Bridgerton, according to Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan, who also portrays Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton. This is a departure from Julia Quinn’s novels, which originally highlighted Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton in the third book. Instead, the show just skips to the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which featured Colin and Penelope. Don’t worry, Bridgerton can still revisit the events of An Offer From a Gentleman in season four.
In a Variety interview, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell explained the reason for the move, saying, “I really feel like it’s about Colin and Penelope’s time,” adding that season three “is itself felt like the perfect moment to get started.”

At the same time, Brownell reassured fans who are looking forward to seeing Benedict’s time in the spotlight, claiming that the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling “will be an important part of season three.”
Ultimately, Bridgerton fans don’t need to bother with the series and how it’s not 100% consistent with the books. It’s not like this is the first time and as an ensemble show this had to happen at some point. Not to mention that Bridgerton isn’t ending any time soon. In addition to the third season, Netflix has already renewed Bridgerton for a fourth. It’s also almost guaranteed that Shonda Rhimes’ first Netflix collaboration will get her chance to adapt all eight of Quinn’s novels.
Speaking of Netflix, it’s been quite a journey for the world’s leading streaming platform over the past few months. After growing each year, Netflix finally hit a brick wall, losing subscribers for the first time in over a decade. This has led to massive layoffs and the cancellation of popular shows like Space Force. Perhaps in an attempt to stem further losses, Netflix is releasing new seasons of Cobra Kai, Stranger Things and Love, Death + Robots over the next few months.
