Based on the real-life UFO-induced phenomenon in Hessdalen, Norway, Blasted is a Norwegian dark sci-fi comedy that tells the story of two close childhood friends, Sebastian (Axel Boyum) and Mikkel (Fredrik Skogsrud). These two childhood friends reunite for Sebastian’s bachelorette party, who gets hooked up with the love of his life in the film.

While Mikkel never progressed beyond a teenage laser tag prodigy, Sebastian has now blossomed into a career-obsessed workaholic. Even at his bachelor party, Sebastian takes the opportunity to land another new client. But the happy atmosphere of the party soon turns tense when their party is interrupted by an alien invasion that scares everyone. Now it’s up to the unbeatable laser tag duo Mikkel and Sebastian to reunite and battle it out.

The official synopsis reads: “Blasted follows childhood friends Sebastian (Axel Bøyum) and Mikkel (Fredrik Skogsrud) as they reunite for Sebastian’s bachelorette party. While Mikkel never grew beyond a teenage laser tag prodigy, Sebastian has blossomed into a career-obsessed workaholic, using the party to flatter a potential client. But when the bachelorette party stumbles headlong into an alien invasion, it’s up to Mikkel and Sebastian to reunite as the awesome laser tag duo they once were and fight back.”

The film was inspired by the real-life UFO phenomenon of the inexplicable Hessdalen Lights seen across a 12km stretch of the Hessdalen valley in rural Norway. These lights have no official source as they appear day and night and also appear to float through and above the valley.
