Music, theater and more bloom in San Diego this week
San Diego is music-packed this week with a country music festival, Flower Power tour, tragic opera and a special way of supporting Ukraine. You can also enjoy great theater in Solana Beach and a fun car show in Santee.
The Flower Power Tour is coming
The California Flower Power Tour rolls into town this week, featuring artists who were part of some of the best and most famous bands of the era. If you love music inspired by The Mamas & The Papas and similar groups, this concert is for you.
The local show is on Saturday at 7pm at the Grand Escondido. Tickets start at $35 and you can meet and greet some of the bands with an additional VIP ticket.
“Cherry Orchard” opens
The North Coast Repertory Theater is presenting The Cherry Orchard now through April 2nd.
Anton Chekhov’s beloved 1903 masterpiece is a rich tapestry of the human condition, woven into a humorous and haunting story. With universal themes of social upheaval, love, loss, grief, envy and ambition, The Cherry Orchard remains as relevant and powerful today as it was when it first premiered.
The local production is directed by David Ellenstein and stars Richard Baird, Ted Barton, Michael Louis Cusimano, Amanda Evans, Jackson Goldberg, Sofia Jean Gomez, Katie MacNichol, Riley Osburn, Michael Raver, James Thomas Snyder, James Sutorius, Katie Tang and John to see Tessmer and Bruce Turk.

‘Tosca’ in the Municipal Theater
Puccini’s ‘Tosca’ is filled with all the drama you can imagine and you can catch a performance this week, Saturday 25th March, with more performances of the intricate Italian opera to come.
The opera, sung in Italian, has English and Spanish subtitles. After the show, you can stay to meet the cast and ask questions about the backstage and onstage drama.

The San Diego Association of Car Clubs is hosting its inaugural Fine Rides & Friends Car Show today from 1-5 p.m. at the Pacific Islander Beer Company, 8665 Argent St., Santee.

Concert in favor of Ukraine
Support Ukraine and enjoy a special concert celebrating Jewish culture today at a special event presented by Yiddishland and the UCSD Jewish Studies Program.
The event takes place today at 5pm at a private home at Scripps Ranch, where three of the world’s most sought-after klezmer musicians will tell the diverse stories of Ukrainian Jewish life through song.

KSON Country Fest
San Diego’s Country Station, 103.7, is hosting KSON Country Fest again this year on Saturday, March 25 at Petco Park. Doors open at 3:30pm. The lineup includes Lee Brice, Parmalee, Easton Corbin, Dillon Carmichael and Hannah Ellis.
Lecture on Federer’s book
This Thursday, the Coronado Historical Society is presenting “The Master: The Long Run and Beautiful Game of Roger Federer” as part of their wine and lecture series.
Author Christopher Clarey will speak about his New York Times bestseller The Master, a biography of Roger Federer.
