OF COURSE

The Golf Club of Houston features fairway corridors originally carved by George Fazio in the 1960’s that form the basis of this stretch of bayou land on the Texas Gulf Coast that has evolved and continues to evolve with the game. The Golf Club of Houston is also the longest running home of the Houston Open. For 17 years, the world’s greatest players have competed on the court, seeking life-changing prestige and rewards to earn victory on the PGA TOUR.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH MALLOY

“We look forward to getting back into action this week. We didn’t have our best things last week and I know these guys are looking forward to getting back on their feet. This is a very challenging golf course that has hosted a PGA Tour event for many years. It will challenge these guys with every facet of their game.”

HUGO ON A HOT STREAK
Hugo Townsende was named Co-SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week after finishing 4th in the grad transfer at the Seminole Intercollegiate, where he had a season-best finish in the top 5 with a total score of 213 (-3). Townsend led the field in par-3 scoring (-3) and was third in the field in birdies (13). This is the first top five result in grad transfers for Ole Miss.

Townsend was one of five players in a field of 81 players who had a below-average aggregate score in the high, windy conditions in Tallahassee. Townsend led for Ole Miss in all three rounds at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course to contribute to Ole Miss’s 3rd place finish.

In the first round of the competition, the native Swede fell from Boden with a round score of 4-under. Townsend went 17 holes without a bogey, hitting seven birdies to start the contest on a high note and maintained his stride to earn his 4th place finish.

REBS WANTING TO RETURN FROM TIME IN TALLAHASSEE

Ole Miss finished his third tournament of the spring season at the Seminole Intercollegiate in third place with a total score of 891 (+27). Overall, Ole Miss played 168 holes and chipped 36 birdies over the two days in Tallahassee.

“It certainly wasn’t our best week,” said the head coach Chris Malloy called. “We handled a difficult golf course and conditions very poorly. If we want to be an elite program, we need to develop more consistency in our approach to every single tournament we play. The good news is that we’re turning fast and get that bad taste out of our mouths.”

EASILY EARNED.
CJ Easyley, who competed individually for Ole Miss, posted a top-15 finish in his Rebel debut at the Seminole Intercollegiate. A native of Oxford, Mississippi, he pared 39 holes during his three rounds in Tallahassee and finished 13th on a 6-over aggregate. Easley sat in the top 20 for most of the tournament, with his best round coming in the second round where he had a round score of 71(-1).
