NORFOLK, Va. — The Old Dominion men’s basketball team will begin a stretch of six of their next eight games on the road, with the first pair starting Thursday night when they visit South Alabama for a tip at 8 p.m. EST. At 4:00 p.m. Saturday, they meet Coastal Carolina in a rematch of a one-point loss to the Chanticleers just two weeks ago.
The encounter with South Alabama is the 23approx All-time meeting with Old Dominion by a slight 12-10 lead. This is their first meeting since the 2004/05 season when Old Dominion won 63-55 in Norfolk. South Alabama is the only team left in the Sun Belt Conference when ODU competed in the Sun Belt 30 years ago.
Saturday’s meeting with Coastal Carolina will be the fourth meeting ever, the first to be held in Coastal Carolina. ODU won in the 2001-02 (81-67) and 2011-12 (68-67) seasons before dropping a 67-66 decision on January 12.

ESPN Radio 94.1FM will broadcast the radio show both days with Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik starting at 7:30 p.m. with the Toyota Pregame Show on Thursday and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
LAST TIME-OUT
Tyreek Scott Grayson scored 16 points while Chaunce Jenkins added 12 and Dericko Williams Chipped in 10 as Old Dominion fell 72-58 to App State on Saturday night. Scott-Grayson added three rebounds and two steals, while Jenkins had four rebounds and four assists, and Williams had seven rebounds and a season-high three steals.
Tyrell Jones had 25 points, going 6 of 13 from 3-point range and leading three in double digits as South Alabama rallied to force overtime but fell 85-81 in Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Isaiah Moore had 19 points and nine assists, while Kevin Samuel had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Josh Uduje posted a game-high 25 points, but it wasn’t enough on Monday night as Chicago State beat Coastal Carolina 74-70 in Conway, SC Essam Mostafa had his 14thth Double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Ktlan Blackmon scored all 12 of his points in the second half.

The Monarchs have four players averaging at least 9.4 points per game. Scott-Grayson leads the team in scoring (15 ppg) while he is second in assists (56), steals (24), third in blocked shots (12), and rebounds per game (5.2 rpg). Chaunce Jenkins follows at 13.8 ppg while leading in assists (60) and third in steals (19). BenStanley rounds out the double-digit scorers at 10.4 ppg Mechi Long averaging 9.4 points and a team high of 7.4 rebounds per game.
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
The Jaguars have two of the top 30 scorers in the conference as Isaiah Moore leads the team and is fourth in the league averaging 17.9 points per game while Kevin Samuel is 29th in the league with 11.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounds (9.7 rpg) while also third in the league in field goal percentage (.650).
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
The Chanticleers will play at the James Madison on Thursday before hosting the Monarchs on Saturday afternoon. Jomaru Brown leads the team and is seventh in the league at 15.3 ppg while Mostafa is next and 14thth in the league at 13.5 ppg. Uduje rounds out the double-digit scorers with 13.1 ppg in 16th placeth in the league. Mostafa is second in the league for rebounds (10.4 rpg) and ninth for field goal percentage (.563).
