Mandarin Oriental announces a new luxury resort in Mallorca, Spain

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that it will manage a new beachfront resort in one of the most desirable locations on the island of Mallorca, Spain, scheduled to open in the second half of 2024.

The new luxury resort, being developed by Spain’s Blasson Property Investments, comprises a major conversion and redesign of the former H10 Punta Negra hotel, situated on an iconic peninsula on the Costa d’en Blanes in the south-west of the island. Upon completion of the renovation, the hotel will be known as Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the resort spreads over 3 hectares of landscaped cliffs and gardens that cascade down to the sea where it offers unique access to two bays surrounded by crystal clear waters. The property is ideally located in Calvià, one of the most exclusive communities on the island, and close to major tourist attractions such as the port of Portals, the historical landmarks of the capital, Palma de Mallorca and the international airport.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will feature 131 guest rooms including 44 suites and nine bungalows just steps from the water. The spacious accommodations offer full or partial sea views, outdoor terraces or balconies, some of which offer private panoramic plunge pools.

A wide range of cuisine is offered in a variety of local and international restaurants, making it a destination for locals and visitors alike. Indoor and outdoor event spaces provide a chic backdrop for meetings and social gatherings, including a garden ideal for wedding receptions.

A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the group’s unique wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with an emphasis on programs inspired by the local nature. The spa includes an indoor pool, while three outdoor pools are located throughout the resort. Guests also have access to a wide range of water sports, as well as a comprehensive kids’ club.

The resort’s new contemporary design will be created by HKS, Estudio Lamela, an award-winning Spanish architecture firm with strong sustainability credentials, while the interior design, with many local cultural references, will be overseen by award-winning designer Laura Gonzalez.

As the largest of the Balearic Islands, Mallorca enjoys a mild climate with warm summers and mild winters. The island is known for its pristine beaches, natural parks and mountainous landscapes.
