Wednesday turned into a rage shortly after its digital premiere on Netflix. The show, directed by Jenna Ortega, has been acclaimed for its dramatic cinematography and viral dance moves, in addition to great performances. It all started when Jenna appeared on the Armchair Experts podcast on March 6th. She explained her character arc and confessed that the scriptwriting wasn’t satisfying enough. The actress further claimed that she took the liberty of changing up her lines, sometimes even saying “no” to plotting points.
Steven DeKnight responded, “She (Jenna Ortega) is young so maybe doesn’t know any better (but she should). She should also ask herself how she would feel if the showrunners did an interview and talked about how difficult she was and refusing to perform the material.”
Wednesday’s producer continued, “That kind of statement is more than valid and toxic. I love their work but life is too short to deal with people like that in this business.”
