In the Magazine: Fix Your Basics, 2023 New Gear Special, Get Fit for the Golf, Charley Hull Exclusive & More…

A message from the editor, Mike Harris:
It’s going to be an outstanding year in competitive golf and I think a significant year in women’s football. Interest in women’s golf – and women’s sport in general – is rightly on a clear upward trend. With this year’s exciting golf calendar and outstanding players filling the upper tiers of the game, that rise should be accelerated.
The international strength of women’s golf has never been greater. From North America the Kordas, Lexi Thompson and Brooke Henderson from Canada; from Oceania, Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee; and from Asia Atthaya Thitikul from Thailand and the likes of Jin Young Ko and In Gee Chun from Korea. Ireland’s Leona Maguire, who is closer to home, is widely tipped for a big break. Then there’s Englishman Charley Hull, about whom Lewine Mair has written an excellent feature in this issue. Could she be Britain’s next Major Champion?
When I began my work as editor of golf monthly About 18 years ago I would not have written this letter. Our focus was very much on men’s golf. Our target audience was the average male golf club member and we delivered engaging content. It was a successful but restrictive approach. golf monthly has evolved over the course of this century and we now aim to deliver a product that appeals to all golfers regardless of gender and age, both in print and online.
