Impressive third round results with second place in men’s golf

TUCSON, Ariz. – After starting Saturday’s third and final round in ninth place, the #9 Pepperdine men’s golf team outperformed all teams in the round with a brave 18-under performance, taking a late lead and eventually finishing in second place . Location.
The Waves finished 23-under with a total of 841 (286-285-270) over three rounds. It is the roster’s fourth consecutive finish in the top three and third finish in four tournaments with a first or second place finish. Pepperdine was one shot away from tournament host and eventual winner #18 Arizona while the Waves defeated #3 Arizona State by one shot and #4 Illinois and #22 Oklahoma State by two shots. William Mow placed third with a total of 206 (70-70-66) over three rounds. He was three shots from the top spot, which was jointly taken by USC’s Jackson Rivera and Arizona’s Zach Pollo. Across the Waves’ six tournaments this year, it is Mouw’s fifth time in the top 10 and sixth time in the top 20. 84 golfers competed, including 17 in the Golfstat Individual Top 50. Mouw also played four places higher than his current #16 ranking list.
GAME RESULTS
- Senior William Mow (Chino, Calif./Ontario Christian HS) shot 10-under overall and 6-under alone in the finals round. He scored seven birdies on the final day of action while posting 14 birdies and an eagle throughout the tournament.
- graduate Sam Choi (Anaheim, California/New Mexico) finished the tournament solidly, moving up 23 places to 13th placeth with a three-round total of 211 (72-72-67). He shot five-unders with six birdies in the last round while hitting 13 birdies overall.
- graduate Luke Gifford (Boca Raton, Florida/South Florida) ended up sharing 37th placeth, moved up 19 places in the last round with a 4-under result. He totaled 215 (75-72-68) over three rounds, making seven birdies in the final round and 16 throughout the tournament.
- graduate Derek Hitchner (Minneapolis, Minnesota/The Blake School) had a total of 218 (69-71-68) over three rounds to end with a tie of 52nd.
- graduate Robert Nieve (Miami, Florida/Delaware) shared for 59th with a score of 220 (76-75-69).
- Compete as an individual, newcomer Brady Siravo (Sacramento, California/Jesuit HS) also shared for 59th with 220 (74-73-73).
