Huge statue of Elon Musk left at Tesla as gift from crypto fans

AUSTIN, Texas — Avoiding Elon Musk can seem difficult these days, especially if you live in central Texas near Tesla and other companies run by the billionaire.

And as if that wasn’t enough, self-proclaimed “massive Elon fans” are driving a giant sculpture of Musk’s face – on the body of a goat riding a rocket – around the Austin area.

The sculpture’s owners run a cryptocurrency company called Elon Goat Token and say it is designed to honor Musk’s contribution to cryptocurrency. The sculpture is meant to symbolize that Musk is the GOAT – an acronym for Greatest Of All Time – which is why the billionaire’s head is on the body of a goat.

Sitting on the back of a semi-trailer, it’s more than 30 feet long, 20 feet tall, and Musk’s head, which wears a Dogecoin necklace, is about 6 feet tall. The sculpture also includes elements such as simulated rocket fire, smoke, lasers, and lighting.

To market and promote the cryptocurrency platform, Elon Goat token holders hope to personally present the statue to Musk.

While there’s no telling Musk will accept the sculpture, the owners hope to deliver it to Tesla headquarters on Saturday after a corporate event, “GOATSgiving,” a gathering for fans of Musk and cryptocurrency. Participants are also invited to join the delivery.

Musk has yet to confirm he’s aware of the statue or say if he’ll be in Austin that day.

Richard Latimer, co-founder of Elon Goat Token, said the sculpture caused a lot of buzz and served well with the marketing goal of “just being crazy and out there”.

“We dedicated the statue (Elon Musk) because he championed crypto at a good point and blew everything up. With everything he’s done with (cryptocurrencies) Doge and Baby Doge and a bunch of other coins, we decided why not do the same but really go out there and do anything and bring him something,” Latimer said.
