Howard University football schedule 2023
WASHINGTON (March 17, 2023) — Home games against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foes North Carolina Central and rival Morgan State, two fights against FBS rosters, and contests against Hampton and Morehouse mark Howard University’s 2023 football schedule, released Friday afternoon.
Howard, who has a stake in the 2022 MEAC Championship, will start his season with a road game on Saturday, September 2 in eastern Michigan. Following this competition, the Bison will host Morehouse in their home opener on Saturday, September 9th.
Howard University meets long-time rival Hampton on Saturday, September 16 at The District.
After a bye, Howard will head out for three straight games against Robert Morris (Saturday, September 30), Northwestern of the Big Ten Conference (Saturday, October 7) and Harvard (Saturday, October 14).
The Bison will host three of its five conference competitions beginning with Norfolk State Saturday, October 21 at Greene Stadium.
Other MEAC home contests for Howard include two straight against North Carolina Central (Saturday, November 11) and Morgan chState (Saturday, November 18) on Senior Day. The NC Central contest should be one of the most anticipated conference matchups as the Bison shared the 2022 MEAC Championship title with the Eagles.
Howard’s road MEAC competitions will be played against the state of Delaware (Saturday, October 28) and the state of South Carolina (Saturday, November 4).
Head coach last season Larry Scott and the Bison won five games in a season for the first time since 2017 (7-4) and a MEAC title since 1993.
Seventeen (17) Bison received MEAC postseason honors in 2022, while 39 received MEAC All-Academic honors.
Howard is returning most of his starters from last season, including junior defenders Kenny Gallop, Jr. (Portsmouth, Virginia), who received numerous honors during the offseason, including 2022 All-MEAC First Team Honors, 2022 ECAC All-Defensive Honors, 2022 Phil Steele FCS All-MEAC First Team, and 2022 Bluebloods All-Conference First Team Honors.
The BOXTOROW HBCU All-American led the conference with 58 solo tackles (89 total). On October 17, he was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week after scoring a season-best 16 tackles (11 solos) at the annual Truth & Service Classic (October 15) against Harvard.

Howard is hosting its annual spring game on Saturday April 15th. The event takes place at Greene Stadium and starts at 3:00 p.m. Admission is FREE for the public.
