Wolf Pack is a new teen drama that sees Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar do battle with a bunch of teenage werewolves.

Based on Canadian author Edo Van Balkom’s book series, Wolf Pack is directed by Teen Wolf showrunner Jeff Davis, with the official synopsis as follows…

Wolf Pack follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives them to attack a freeway jam beneath the burning hills. Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl find themselves inexplicably attracted to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted by a park ranger 16 years earlier after another mysterious wildfire. As the full moon rises, all four teenagers come together to solve the mystery that binds them together – the bite and blood of a werewolf.

Sarah Michelle Gellar plays an arson investigator investigating these wildfires, and the show represents the Buffy star’s return to teen horror. Westworld star Rodrigo Santoro also stars, while the teenagers in question are played by Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray.

How Hereditary and Euphoria inspired the show

At a screening of the first episode last night in London, Jeff Davis said the show was a combination of his two previous hits, which smash police case Criminal Minds along with the teenage drama of Teen Wolf.

Although Wolf Pack has no narrative connection to Teen Wolf, it is released on the same day as Teen Wolf: The Movie, which we reviewed here.

Davis also said that Wolf Pack was inspired by Euphoria, the 1980s cult classic The Lost Boys, and indie studio A24’s horror films – Hereditary in particular.

Wolf Pack will stream on Paramount+ starting Friday while you can read about Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character on the show here.
