It’s just one game, but the NFL season’s summer drought is coming to an end Thursday night.
The first week of the 2022-2023 NFL preseason begins with the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the competition. And while it won’t impact the upcoming season, it’s a good chance for fans to get back into their viewing habits.
Next week, most of the league will come into action sometime between Thursday and Sunday.
While tonight’s matchup is a Thursday night game, the Hall of Fame game will not be airing on Amazon this year. This exclusivity doesn’t come into effect until September 15th, but if you want to see how at least two teams are shaping up for the upcoming season, we’ve got all the information you need.
Which NFL teams are playing this week? And which channels will broadcast the games?
This week is an easy schedule. Here’s a look at who’s playing, with the home side coming second.
Thursday, August 4th
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Las Vegas Raiders, 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC
How can I watch the Hall of Fame game for free – even if I’m no longer in the market?
The best way to watch any kind of network programs on a big screen for free is with a good HD antenna. And watching the Hall of Fame game is a breeze since it’s broadcast on a broadcast network, meaning you can watch it even if you don’t have a cable subscription. To ensure you are getting the most reliable signal, you should test the antenna in multiple locations around your home.
Can I stream NFL games live online if I don’t have a cable subscription?
You can – and there are several ways to do it with Thursday’s preseason game.
Access Thursday’s game via NBC’s streaming service. You can get a seven-day free trial followed by a $5 or $10 monthly fee. (The free version of Peacock does not include live sports.)
Hulu with Live TV
You can try the service for free for a week. Once that’s used up, you’ll pay $65 per month.
After a two-week trial, you can expect monthly fees of $65.
Dish Network Sling’s lower “Orange” plan costs $35 per month. Adding the more comprehensive “Blue” plan increases the cost to $50 per month. They have a seven-day free trial first — and right now, the cable-cutting service is dropping the first month’s bill to $10.
Formerly known as DirecTV Now and AT&T TVNow, AT&T’s streaming service costs $70 a month and up. There is no longer a free trial option.
This sports-focused cable cutting service broadcasts broadcast networks in most markets. There’s a seven-day free trial, followed by monthly fees ranging from $65 to $80 depending on the channels you choose.
Can I watch NFL preseason games on Amazon?
Not this year. The Hall of Fame game, as well as other preseason games, will not be broadcast on the streaming network. But starting September 15, it will be the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football.
Does the NFL offer viewership packages to watch the games I want?
Indeed it does.
That NFL app allows you to stream games that air Sundays locally in your market (so it won’t help with this week’s game). If you want to watch an out of print game, you have two options.
NFL Game Pass
There are a few issues with this service. You can’t use it to watch live games, but you can watch everything once the main broadcast ends. There is a seven-day free trial, after which you pay a fee of $100 per season.
NFL Sunday Ticket
DirecTV customers have access to it, but if you’re not a subscriber and live in an area where it’s not available, you can catch any NFL game live, online or on TV for $73.49 a month or $293.36 see for the entire season.
