Kilowattrel has proven to be one of the strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Here’s how to get one and what to do with it.
- Is Kilowattrel a good Pokemon?
Wattrel and Kilowattrel are among the standout additions to the National Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Players will be well served by adding these Electric Flying Pokémon to their lineup.
For a long time, the electric-flying combination was reserved for weak Pokémon like Rotom-Fan and Emolga or powerful legends like Thundurus and Zapdos. Over the years there has been no middle ground. Wattrel and Kilowattrel will change that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
The Frigatebird Pokémon can be downright fearsome in the right conditions. Here you will find Wattrel and Kilowattrel and what they have to offer players.
Where can I find Wattrel?
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Players can find Wattrel on the beaches of East, South, and West Paldea. Despite being the flying Pokemon most closely associated with beaches, Wingull has stiff competition from Wattrel as its habitat spans most of the Paldea region.
The Pokémon hops along beaches and flies over the ocean. Players can easily find and catch a Wattrel after getting the Surf ability on Koraidon and Miraidon, but until then there should be plenty of ways to find one.
How to evolve Wattrel
Players can evolve Wattrel into Kilowattrel by raising it to level 25. At this point, its evolution is triggered at each level. The Pokemon doesn’t have any other requirements, so players don’t have to worry about moves, Evolution Stones, or running around with Pokemon like Pawmi.
Alternatively, once players have the Surf ability, they can simply explore the waters further out from Paldea’s shores. Kilowattrel appears in the East, West, and North Paldean Seas, so it can be caught without having to devote time and a party slot to Wattrel.
Is Kilowattrel a good Pokemon?
Kilowattrel is a very powerful Pokémon in both Story Mode and Ranked Trainer Battles. The Pokemon has strong support and offensive tools that make it viable in most battles.
Kilowattrel is one of the fastest Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and has above average Sp. Attack stats. It also has the powerful Tailwind move and Wind Power ability, which boosts its next electric move after it’s used.
The general strategy with Kilowattrel is to send it out as a lead Pokemon, use Tailwind, and then follow it with a powerful electric move like Thunderbolt. From there, Kilowattrel can continue his offense or switch out to allow other allies to take advantage of the Downwind speed boost.
This is a very powerful tactic in trainer battles, but Kilowattrel tends to fight in six star Tera Raid battles. While fast and offensively strong, its defenses are too weak to hold up in a prolonged war with a raid boss.
