Extended or cancelled?
A Model Family is Netflix’s latest thriller with 10 episodes to enjoy and some deliciously shocking twists.
If you’ve followed this one, you might be wondering if it was extended or cancelled.
What is season 1 of A Model Family about?
A Model Family focuses on Park Dong-Ha, a hardworking but poverty-stricken guy. He does his best for his family and tries to get a promotion by bribing one of the professors. Unfortunately, the money he uses is supposed to go toward his son’s heart surgery, and it backfires spectacularly.
Desperate for money, Dong-Ha finds happiness on his way home from work when he discovers two bags full of money in the back of a car. The two men inside are dead. After taking the money and burying the bodies in his own backyard, Dong-Ha unwittingly falls headlong into the seedy underbelly of crime, specifically the Sangseon and Yongsoo drug rings.
Kwang-Chul, the second-in-command of this drug ring, begins the investigation and leads him to Dong-Ha’s back garden. Only it also brings the officer Joo-Hyun there. Will Dong-Ha emerge victorious?

Has a model family extended for season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix had Not is renewing A Model Family for Season 2. Given the ratings and (annoyingly veiled!) viewership, it will be interesting to see if they actually renew this for a sequel.
Netflix has a good track record of renewing its original K-Dramas, with Kingdom, All Of Us Are Dead, and Squid Game all getting second-season contracts. This is one of the more consistent areas of the Netflix model, and A Model Family lends itself well to the same treatment. Based on this, we predict that A Model Family will be renewed.
We’ll update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about Season 2 so far:
Little is known about Season 2 so far. Most Korean dramas are limited to one season, but as mentioned above, Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist, etc.) are of course usually renewed.
Given the story structure’s similarity to shows like Breaking Bad and Ozark, it seems like Netflix is trying to revive what made those shows so great and bring a Korean twist to the proceedings.
There’s certainly room for further development of this story as both Kwang-Chul and Dong-Ha delve deeper into this seedy world. With that in mind, we believe so will be renewed.
We generally aim to update this page as more information becomes available.
