For Chill Drive Genesect, his Techno Blast will be Ice type and he also gains the ability to learn Ice Beam. Genesect Chill Drive starts August 10th at 10:00 and runs until August 16 at 20:00 local time and will appear in 5-star raids during the Bug Out! event on Pokemon GO.

Although holding another drive can change the type of Genesect’s Techno Blast, it doesn’t change its base type. Genesect will continue to appear as a Bug and Steel-type, with only one major weakness: Fire. The Bug and Steel-type combo leaves Genesect with a variety of resistances including: Normal, Bug, Steel, Psycho, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. It also strongly resists Grass and Poison attacks. Because of this amount of resistance, bringing only Fire-types to the raid is your best option to ensure an easy win. Players will also be wary of the possibility of Genesect spawning with an Ice-type attack, but this shouldn’t deal heavy damage to Fire-types anyway.

Being a 5-star Mythical Pokémon Raid Pokemon GO, Genesect will need at least 3 or 4 high level players to beat. However, due to its major weakness, bringing along entire teams of Fire-types can save smaller groups from defeat. Raiders can also benefit from weather boosts; In sunny weather, Fire-type moves become stronger, giving groups of all Fire-types the upper hand. Also, avoid snowy and rainy weather as these will boost Steel and Bug type moves respectively.

Achieving the highest possible CP for each of the above Pokemon will guarantee Genesect goes down as soon as possible. Additionally, many Fire-type starter Pokemon will do well against Genesect, so even if the player doesn’t have access to Legendaries, the player can still use more common Fire-type Pokemon to defeat it.
